For 39 years, Les Petites Voix has brought joy and singing to children throughout Southwest Louisiana. LPV, the Southwest Community Chorus for Children, is a choir for singers in 4th - 12 grades with unchanged treble voices. Singers rehearse once a week to focus on music literacy, vocal training, and performance skill of the highest standards. These skills are taught primarily through the Kodály philosophy of music education.
We are very excited that this year Les Petites Voix will join the Symphony of Southeast Texas in Beaumont for a performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in April. Other performances will include the annual Louisiana Choral Foundation Christmas Concert and the Louisiana Association of Kodály Educators Children’s Choir Festival. Kari Proksch is in her 16th year as the Artistic Director of Les Petites Voix.
This year, she is beginning her 20th year teaching as the new choir director at S.J. Welsh Middle School in Lake Charles. She is an experienced teacher of all levels of music education beginning with pre-k students and continuing through graduate level Kodály training course students. Kari received a Diploma in Music Pedagogy from the Franz Liszt Academy Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music in Hungary. Mrs. Proksch also earned a Masters degree in Music Education from McNeese State Univeristy with a Kodály certification.
Weekly rehearsals for the 2022-2023 season will begin on Monday, September 19. Rehearsals will be held St. Luke Simpson Methodist Church from 4:00 - 5:15 pm. Please call Kari Proksch at 337-912-8592 for information on joining LPV.
